I moved to Vermont in 2012 and began painting in the hills of Pomfret. Finding a spot in an open field, I spread out my yoga blanket, lay out my palettes and paints, and breathed in the fragrance of the field in which I settled. Lithe bugs hummed nearby.
Thus, I was in an artistic meditation that loosened my stroke while easily focusing my eyes on the weathered texture of Moore's Barn.
In the last few years I have painted versions of the same iconic Woodstock oak tree. I tip my hat to poet Mary Oliver in my winter "Patient Oak." That tree has been an inspiration to many of us.
Regardless of the season, the horizons have stretched my imagination with vivid color shifts and cloud formations; my strokes opening to the sense of Vermont's infinite beauty.
